A National Rifle Association Institute for Legistlative Action blacklist archiving various organizations, celebrities and journalists for lending their "name and notoriety to anti-gun causes" and various other means of support for things like gun control is getting attention for its inclusion of 14 political cartoonists. The cartoonists join a number of other individuals and organizations that support some measure of gun control including The League of Women's Voters, Nickelodeon President Herb Scannell and former Police lead singer Sting.

Public debate over gun control and other aspects pertaining to the Second Amendment has taken center stage in America following a number of deadly shootings in Aurora, Colorado, Clackamas, Oregon, Sandy Hook Elementary and other locations. Originally published in September of 2012, however, the list does not directly coincide with any specific incident and is not cited as a response to any particular action by those on the list.

While it wouldn't be the first time Garry Trudeau's gotten a reaction from something he's drawn, the overall list isn't entirely surprising. After all, it's a political cartoonist's job to speak some form of truth to some form of power and comment on the political climate of the day. You can read the full list here.
