Oh Come On! Superman in chains? Like that's edgy! And being against the authorities is not cool when it's Superman. He's the Boy-scout people, anything else is not Superman

December 18 2012 at 10:05 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThose scales make him look like Aquaman doing cosplay.

December 03 2012 at 11:03 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWhere's his spit curl? WHERE'S HIS SPITCURL!?!?! LOL. It doesn't quite seem likes Supes without the trademark hairstyle.

December 03 2012 at 8:42 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI have this little theory I made up 15 minutes ago, that says that modern writers, with all the instant prise they get on the internet and the money they now make writing nerdy stuff that would have been embarassing 20 years ago, can't get over the fact that Superman is just better than them. I mean, that's the whole point of that very simple concept: one guy, who is better than anybody at everything. So they try to "humnize" him by either humilliating or just trying to show you how he's "just like us". Well, he's not, he's the most powerful being in the planet, in the fiction, and the first and most popular super-hero ever in reality. Deal with it, and write about it. (See: All Star Superman for a writer who totally got that right)
December 03 2012 at 7:23 PM Report abuse Permalink -2 rate up rate down ReplyAll Star Superman constantly humanized the character, and was more powerful a story for doing so.
December 03 2012 at 10:22 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThe trouble is that the Silver Age comics were CONSTANTLY taking the piss out of Superman too. It sounds like a lot of the people writing him at the time sort of hated the character, and tried to undermine him.
I'm not saying you're wrong, but the desire to take Superman down a peg is not a modern phenomenon.
I think I will like this. Superman begins making the corrupt establishment very uncomfortable. Same with Jesus Christ IRL.
Like in golden age, or in Geof Johns Secret Origin. General Lane and the establishment at Metropolis dont like do gooders. Also the corrupt InterGang precrisis.
It is humble for our hero to come quietly, but only because he is right, and the establishment needs to get exposed.
Like the content a lot but it's a bit drab in comparison to the Batman ones. Could just be the crappy resolution, but even though they've desaturated the rest of the pic Supes barely stands out at all. I think his costume could've stood to be a bit more vibrant without going full-on sky blue and ketchup red.
December 03 2012 at 4:56 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyYou read my mind. Superman's costume has lost all brightness and color to it. It's a little boring to look at.
December 04 2012 at 1:35 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI appreciate the sentiment/connotations here but it does look like a rather bad screen grab.
