'DC Universe Online' Adds Playable Lex Luthor And Steel To PvP Mode
DC Universe Online players willing to shell out $9.99/1,000 Station Cash a pop can now suit up as two of the DCU's arguably most iconic armored characters. Legends versions of the heroic John Henry Irons a.k.a. Steel and the villainous Lex Luthor are both now available for purchase through DCUO's Marketplace to use in PvP mode. According to DCUO Systems Designer Jesse Scott, Lex will fight primarily through hand blasts care of Quantum Barrage and Laser Beam devices built into his trademark green and purple battlesuit. He'll also utilize an "Energy Matrix or a localized AoE named EMP" on hand for close encounters and a LexCorp Surface Strike capability that'll barrage foes with rockets. Steel, on the other metal hand, will wield his signature hammer and use it for multiple attacks that feature names like "Hammer Drop," "Atom Splitter," and the electrified "Hammerang" move. There doesn't appear to be an option to play as Shaq Steel, though, which is a complete and utter bummer.

They both play great and i'm excited to see the new temple of isis map. Steel is especially powerful, far more capable than i anticipated. The animations are excellent too. Lex does some nice air strikes and has a slightly faster hand blast weapon than the normal version, including an excellently redone scissor kick that instead launches energy bursts/spheres from those shoulder cannons.
Clipping steel's loadout is pretty ridiculous. The whirl wind is great, quick cool down and can be used out of most weapon combo finishers. He has a move that has a pretty heavy thor vibe, so between playing him and seeing lex next to him we're getting pretty close to an Avengers line up in the DCUO legends PVP system. Throw in bane (has a hulk vibe with his super charge move and rock toss) from the launch character selection and maybe give us Guardian (since he was used as part of the Last Laugh DLC that introduced shield, but is yet to actually appear in game) to fill out the captain america role and...

None of you know what i'm talking about. Go try legends! Even if the rest of DCUO isn't your thing, most of Legends pvp is usable on their free service, and it's pretty fun. Don't let losses discourage you, just practice a bit and have fun! If you like fighting games (street fighter, KOF, etc), this is a pretty interesting MMO. Excellent combat.
