Before the Kinect-powered fighting game Marvel Avengers: Battle For Earth was a twinkle in Ubisoft's eye, THQ was reportedly at work on a similarly Skrull-centric Avengers action game. The game was canceled, with various character renders and a little bit of gameplay footage eventually surfacing online, but what of the game's concept art? As pointed out by Super Punch, it appears much of the work from this canned project is now live on the blog of artist Jeremy Love. There's a ton to look at at Love's site, including concept designs for Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye, Nick Fury, Black Widow, Ms. Marvel, Vision, S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents, Ultron and tons of Skrull soldiers and Super Skrulls that borrow from a mix of Secret Invasion and Ultimate line aesthetics. The artist additionally worked on the Skrull Mothership and environments including the Skrull homeworld and a New York City and Stark Tower overrun by the shapeshifters' alien technology.

Despite the game's doomed fate, Love's concept art didn't go to waste, as Hasbro picked up one of his skrull designs for a recent Avengers comic line action figure. Back during Toy Fair when there was uncertainty over the identity of Loki's alien army in The Avengers movie, the reveal of a Skrull game piece based on Love's work in a Jakk's Pacific Strategy Game had the blogosphere abuzz, even.
