Apparently, you won't have to wait for a future Justice League
movie to see DC Comics' World's Finest superheroes team up on the silver screen
- although you might think that the next time you see both heroes onscreen, they're kind of acting like blockheads. Warner Bros. is apparently adding versions of Superman and Batman to its planned Lego movie
The studio's animated Lego project -- currently titled Lego: The Piece of Resistance
(Expect that to change before it's done, considering the pun isn't immediately obvious) -- has been in the works since 2008, with Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs
) writing and directing. The plot will center around Emmet, a regular Lego mini-figure voiced by Parks and Recreation
's Chris Pratt, who finds himself in the middle of an attempt to stop a mysterious bad guy from gluing the universe together.
According to Variety
, that attempt will be bolstered by the presence of Lego Batman and Lego Superman, voiced by Will Arnett and Channing Tatum respectively (Tatum hasn't officially signed onto the movie, as yet, so that may change). Lego gained access to the entire DC Comics catalog last year, following a number of years of the two companies working together on various Batman projects including the Lego Batman
With Superman and Batman in the mix, is it too much to hope that Clancy Brown will end up making a cameo as Lego Lex Luthor? Just a couple of lines, come on...
Lego: The Piece of Resistance
is scheduled for a Feb 28, 2014 release.
