Oh my god... This is stupid, yet I love it. I want to play this, with lots variant costumes. (it's a fighting game, rite?)

May 31 2012 at 6:33 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplySweet, glorious, !!!EXXXTREME!!! piping!!! I did enjoy Mortal Kombat Vs. DCU for what it was and the MK engine Netherealm uses is superb. And did I just see Batman knee Grundy through buildings? Did I just see Superman Punt Flash into low orbit and then Vegeta his ass back into the Bat Cave...dear lord. That's all so...so, inane. Yet...so perfect. So many conflicting emotions watching this trailer. I should outright hate this due solely to Juggalette Harley and yet...I don't. Dare I say...I'm intrigued to see just how ridiculous this gets? If this supports a tag mode I just may have to get this. I mean how could I resist teaming up O.M.A.C. with John Constantine?!

Oh and ditto all the comments below about grim and gritty arrrrrgh comics.
Hey, this might tie in with my theory of the nu52 being temporary.
I know, this is not very solid, but just think about it. All these costumes are of the nu52 variety, more or less. Batman's is a bit off and I can probably safely say that they were working on these models when Wonder Woman still was advertised as wearing pants, which was later removed. But, I noticed most all of these designs were from nu52.
Does it mean anything? Perhaps not, but I file it away. One of the things that strikes me about nu52, especially the JLA (I flipped through #7) is that they are all ass-holes (at least, they treated Green Arrow rather snottily and even there previous appearances, with Superman-bully did not engender them for me).
I mean, maybe it's "just me" but I can say I don't like nor care about the characters in nu52 from what I've read. They have no warmth or personality. And these guys seem to fit in with the way they are depicted rather nicely IMHO. Maybe it's foreshadowing and not just an homage to "Injustice Lords" from the JLA TAS. I can see the people, currently in the comics, act and be like this: like how they are in this video game. Again, it may be due to Pandora and she may shuffle the Universe back or not, depending on declining comic book sales. This whole nu52 might just be another "Flashpoint" to pull the wool over all our eyes...or it could be the new status quo.
Well, the nose-up treatment for Green Arrow was somewhat explained by the previous "bad experience" with J'Onn.
But I wouldn't bet on the nu52 being any more temporary than the original Crisis... (slowly tweaked and retconned over a couple of decades), and certainly not by "anti-hero" behaviour from a group of characters trying to be sold to a public convinced that superheroes are either "realistic" or poorly written.
I can see that. It's just a hunch/theory and I admit, while it'd be nice if it were true and that DiDio and Lee and Jones had perfect poker-faces all this time, I can't discount that they were honest in their interviews, to an extent.
This game may not support my theory, but having Pandora around, the person who was responsible for Flashpoint and who still lingers in many panels like some sorta obvious clue that something is gonna happen (and that "something" could be anything from the universe changing again to her opening up a new bagel restaurant). I mean, suppose they keep things as they are for...let's say 5 years, are readers still going to be subjected to 5 years of random panels of Pandora playing "peek-a-boo"? It could easily happen that the story element is dropped and we see less and less of Pandora and there is no big universe ball as alluded to when Phantom Stranger and the Spectre spoke to Pandora (and seemed to fear her a bit).
But I agree, sales are still strong enough and I can see a reason for this "nu52" to stay around unfortunately longer. And heck, there is no reason I'll immediately go back to buy issues even if it did change...and I think older fans may feel the same because of certain feelings of resentment.
Let me put it to you this way...
Grant Morrison had a 7 year plan (5 year plan?) for Batman he pitched to DC. They've kept him on the character even after he got to the climax (which was RIP, if I recall), and let him find a new long-term plan for the bat.
If you've got enough clout with editorial and/or the marketplace, DC is willing to go long-term for you. But ONLY if you've convinced them it will pay off.
NEED MORE RANDOM PIPING!
May 31 2012 at 5:38 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplySo.... Wonder Woman.... wearing pants in this version.
COMMENCE THE GNASHING OF TEETH!
Awwww, c'mon... ya gotta admit that was one of the more inane controversies around this place when it a hot-button.
Heheheh....
