I think Jed Henry is a pretty cool guy. Eh incorporates the style of Japanese woodblocks into his art and doesn't afraid of anything.

They are both homages to that particular art style. You could say that they were inspired by that artist's work in term of the subject matter, but I don't see the need to call it a ripoff just because you like someone else's work better.
because william chua's mashups are from 3 years ago and are almost the exact same format.
