'Before Watchmen' Character Designs and Pages Surface [Art]

Watchmen is my favourite graphic novel of all time, it's one of the few things ill always read again and again. Whilst the new Watchmen might not live up to Alan Moore's original or his vision and themes within the book, it is nice to see all that great artwork. I normally don't like Jim Lee's art but you can tell he's obviously gone the extra mile to make sure it's his best work yet and i think Darwyn Cooke brings his own magic to the characters. Although Moore is against this and had been screwed over by DC, you have to remember he has reinterpreted many other authors characters no longer in public domain. Maybe he'll be pleasantly suprised. I hope he still gets royalties though as noone else can do what he does.

I'm loving these designs! AND I can't wait for DC to FORCE people to not only buy and read these, but to erase your original memories of Watchmen, so that it will be forever ruined for you...

Anyone who still think this is a huge ethical problem should probably go talk to Dave Gibbons. He's not that worked up about it.

This whole project looks slick. I cannot be convinced that this wasn't a brilliant idea. All the negativity surrounding this reeks of hipster "I-was-into-Watchmen-before-it-was-mass-market"-ism.

Still not sure if I'll pick up any BEFORE WATCHMEN books or not. I'm ambivalent. I really hope, though, that Cooke makes sure not to forget that Captain Metropolis is, quite frankly, a fascist. I was really irritated that, in the WATCHMEN film, they omitted from Captain Metropolis's bulletin board warnings against "black unrest" and "drugs." And, in one of the UNDER THE HOOD excerpts, Nite Owl mentions Captain Metropolis expressed support for Hitler or something like that...

I'm sorry for Mr. Moore, but come on! The art is awesome

the art looks good and some of it looks great, but i don't think i can buy anything from this series. and it's not exactly because of the controversy surrounding before watchmen, the problem is that it's like my eyes are rejecting any version of the watchmen characters that doesn't look like the ones dave gibbons drew.

This is sick. I can't believe that DC allowed these guys to ruin the creative genius of the Charlton creations just so they could make a comic and sell some issues. God! I'm so outraged.

Very nice art, but zero interest in reading any of these books. My opinion hasn't changed - wish these books weren't happening, wish Conner, Cooke, et al were working on something new/original instead. But c'est la vie.
