Jim Davis' famously fat feline
Garfield is coming to monthly comic books with a new ongoing series this May from Boom! Studios' all-ages imprint, Kaboom! Helming the new series is longtime comic book scribe and
Garfield and Friends animated series alum
Mark Evanier, along with
artist Gary Barker, known for his work on the
Garfield comic script, children's books, multimedia and more. The news comes care of
CBR's exclusive interview with Evanier, who was hand-picked by Davis for the gig.
When asked about the contents of Garfield #1, Evanier teased CBR with some comforting details:
"If I knew, I'd tell you, but I literally start writing #1 as soon as I finish this interview. I have a hunch it'll have something to do with eating lasagna or sleeping. Or both. Most likely, both."
Like Boom!'s recent
Adventure Time and
Peanuts books,
Garfield #1 is slated to contain at least two stories and could likely rock some alternate covers.
Might I suggest KC Green?
