I agree there should be more bulges on male heroes wearing tights. Back in high school, a friend of mine wouldn't draw a superhero who wasn't proud of his sack. Made it difficult for me to see these guys the same way anymore (which was a good thing - How manly can a hero be if he's got no balls?). However, as for poses, no one should be traumatized as I was when this Green Lantern cover showed up on new-stands back in the day; http://images.wikia.com/marvel_dc/images/1/11/Green_Lantern_Vol_2_133.jpg
Huge Jim Starlin fan back then, but... not good.
I'm not saying Megan Rosalarian's entire argument is wrong, but there is a major flaw in her argument: There's a difference between male sexual poses and female sexual poses. You can't just put male characters in female poses and say, "See! Seeeee!" The argument can be made that the power poses of male characters are what women would find attractive. Although...maybe not in this topsy turvy, gender confused modern world...

I think you haven't been to enough Chippendale's shows if you think those are "female sexual poses."
While I don't disagree that women are sexualized in comics, because they are, I do think her entire argument is wrong.
Her argument is "If men were drawn as physically perfect specimens that pose an unacceptably high standard and unreachable goals, men wouldn't like comics either."
Shenanigans. Men ARE drawn to the same unacceptable physical standards. Seriously, look at Spidey, the Hulk, Superman, or literally ANYONE as drawn by Rob Liefeld.
The difference is that it's not a hot-button issue in the male psyche or in the culture at large. We're subjected to the same stimuli, but it's not given the same sort of "evolutionary dominance" appeal as, say, violence and clever quips in the books.
Is that gonna be an alternative cover because I'll buy it and get it signed.
