New 'The Amazing Spider-Man' Movie Poster Promises 'The Untold Story'

Personally, I've been disappointed ever since it revealed that Swarm, the Nazi Made of Bees, isn't the main villain. After the musical, I was hoping that villain could make a real come back.
(Humor aside, I don't like the looks of this so far, but I'm still hoping that it might be good.)
The untold story of the first season of the 1990s cartoon show.

The 1994 Spider-Man TV series topped Nielsen ratings for kids' shows in its slot during 1995. Its ratings are described here as equal to ABC, CBS and NBC combined. This means it drew numbers in the tens of millions of young viewers during its heyday. Those viewers grew up and became part of the target demographic for this movie.
Spider-Man comics, which sold far better in 1995 than now, still never reached anywhere near those numbers. I don't have to tell you that Spider-man comics sales nowadays number in the thousands, not the millions.
It's not really disputable that the grown-up audience for the Spider-man TV show is a more lucrative target for the film than the much, much smaller readership of Spider-man comics.
The untold story promises an epic showdown between Peter Parker and his archnemesis, SKIP WESTCOTT!

I get wanting to move away from some of the heavy camp of the Raimi stuff but I would also like a movie where Spidey was allowed to have his sense of humor.
Right now this movie feels less amazing than it does something that wants to be Chris Nolan's Spider-Knight Begins.
Spider-Man's origin is a pretty dark story. One of the darkest in comics, maybe.
December 10 2011 at 8:56 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replymore often than not these comment sections are like sitting in on a really bitchy, lame version of open-mic stand-up night. "Maybe the untold story involves, er, Twilight, or something. Har har har!"

Lead actor's shoe in looks to Twillight lead actor (my god, the hair) doesn't help. ;P

Something about the part where he finds his dad's old leather case and how that's something important. My theory is that it leads him to something his Dad was involved in which turns out to be the program which gives him the powers. I guess I'm just trying to reason why his parents are even in this movie...

December 10 2011 at 12:51 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThis version dedicates a full half of the movie to Spider-Man's career in the WWE. From his start as a rookie, to his first heel-turn, to his reinvention as a crowd favorite, it's the story of Spider-Man we've all been waiting for!
