This is so awesome. Thank you for telling it like it is Moore!

I can’t think of any reason why as a population we should be expected to stand by and see a gross reduction in the living standards of ourselves and our kids, possibly for generations, when the people who have got us into this have been rewarded for it; they’ve certainly not been punished in any way because they’re too big to fail. I think that the Occupy movement is, in one sense, the public saying that they should be the ones to decide who’s too big to fail."
Thank you, Alan Moore! :D
"I’m sure if it had been a bunch of young, sociopathic vigilantes with Batman make-up on their faces, he’d be more in favour of it."
That sounds awesome. Where can I sign up for that? Would make me actually give a flamin' frag about these occupy ____ protesters.
Haha, you'd never sign up for something that involved masculine competition. :) Adorable!

"It’s about what I’d expect from him. It’s always seemed to me that the majority of the comics field, if you had to place them politically, you’d have to say centre-right."
I think that's worth discussion in and of itself. I would find an analysis of this notion more interesting than whether or not Frank Miller is a dick...especially since I think there are a lot of people out there who seem to think superhero comics are a left-leaning world of social change and progress.
I think American "liberal" is British "center-right".
Let's put it this way: in Britain, Conservatives wouldn't dream of trying to repeal universal healthcare.
When direct political statements make their way into most Marvel or DC comics, their authors strike me as the sort of liberals who preferred the Comedy Colbert/Stewart rally over Occupy Wall Street (and I doubt that "sort" includes Colbert or Stewart). People who'd agree with my views in public as long as I dressed like their pastor.

"Anything after the horse and buggy, I’m a bit suspicious of. I can see that for some people having a Kindle would be a real benefit. I can also see the state of my home, which is pretty much surrendered to books. Me and Melinda, we make our living space around the books. But I kind of like that."
Geez Louise, it's nice to read an opinion on e-readers from someone in literature who actually accepts that some people might have good reason to differ from him on the subject, without calling them philistines for wanting a Kindle or Luddites for not wanting one.
I hate to say it, as someone who really does like Miller's art, but my hunch is that Moore is probably right that Miller would fully endorse a gang of violent Batman wannabes, especially one that attributed their behavior to Miller's work.
That is, I admit, just a hunch.
Alan Moore, you're still the guy who supports someone who committed treason and endangered fellow soldiers. **** off.

December 05 2011 at 8:51 PM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down ReplyI think he's talking about Bradley Manning.
Who hasn't actually been convicted of anything, mind, but let's not let THAT stop us.
Actually, Alan Moore isn't the only dude who supports this dirty stinkin' traitor who blew the whistle on a lot of unethical and illegal activity going on among US forces in Iraq. He's got quite a lot of support in Europe in general, partly because of the alleged inhumane conditions he's been kept in:

Wait...Batman wears make-up?!
You have blown my mind once again, Mr. Moore.
But seriously this is pretty entertaining to see.
I think he is referring to the Sons of Batman in The Dark Knight Returns.
