Holy crap, Kid Omega is back?
November 06 2011 at 10:26 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI picked up both issues, and I was a bit disappointed with Wolverine and the X-Men. Maybe it's because it's a complete "intro" issue, but it was pretty boring. Wolverine's nearly immediate second-guessing made me think that his oh-so-strong convictions were a bunch of bull compared to portraying some light comedy. Uncanny was the more interesting of the two.
I'm one of those who finds Wolverine completely out of character, mostly reenforced by his speech to Armor in Astonishing X-Men on the Breakworld (be a soldier or don't, but people are going to try to kill you either way). I also find it ironic that he has these ideals while naming the school the Jean Grey School, considering that in New X-Men, Jean was in a similar situation with the U-Men and rounded up the students to help her fight them (even though she still did most of the work).
I also think Hank's "zingers" against Scott are far from justified. He tries to make this point that he suffered oh-so-much while Scott just sat there and never takes a hit, but if anything, Beast is the one who sits on his laurels while Scott takes the bullets. He's the one who saved Nate during The Twelve, sacrificing himself, and he purposefully killed himself in space only to be purposefully resurrected and tortured so that the mission would succeed in Astonishing X-Men. Beast got tortured once, and he's suddenly all self-righteous and butthurt?
I completely agree. Related to your post somewhat, I'm (also) tired of the fact that ever since around 2001 or so, Wolverine has always been elevated to being the saint and do-no-wrong seemingly, all in the name of sales/sensationalism and his now being the de facto "main character" in the movies from 2000 to 2006, while Cyclops has been relegated to being his dramatic foil, in the movies and otherwise, and everything from 1963-2000 regarding Scott's noble deeds and his love for Jean has been irretrievably thrown out the window. Granted, yes, Logan was more or less Scott's dramatic foil for a long time in the 20th century publications, but back then, they were both presented/to be viewed as admirable, noble characters. Now it's like Wolverine is perennially the untouchable golden boy while Cyclops is ALWAYS being crapped on. I agree too that Beast was too harsh on Scott as well.

November 05 2011 at 2:31 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyYeah, that was Mercury's parents' reasoning. They didn't even care if she had survived the school bus explosion.

November 04 2011 at 11:49 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyAn X-book where Doop teaches at-risk young mutants in the vein of "Dangerous Minds". I'm ready for it.
November 04 2011 at 9:55 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplySo what's going to happen to X-Force? It was kind of the best of the X-titles before their little schism. What the dilli-o?

November 03 2011 at 11:17 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyHey, Marvel! Your sliding timescale has just become a contiguous block of goo. You might want to look into that.
It's very creepy how Cipher, who was once kind of dated Kitty Pryde when they were both 15, is now a student at the school where she's the headmistress. I know he died and came back, so he might be physically younger now, but still...
It's actually a little sad to see characters that readers would probably consider to have 'graduated' making up the student body, some of them having been around since the early 1980's. And in terms of each character's actual on-panel experience in the field, it looks even weirder and more confusing. I think there are members of the student body who have seen more on panel action than many members of the faculty.
So what happened to Elixir?
