Gifted with the power to fly and control the weather, Storm is the second member of the X-Men to become a permanent Avenger in recent history. Marvel and writer Bendis caused a controversy among many fans when Wolverine joined the team in 2005.

Whoever wrote this needs to read their history Storm is the 3rd X-men to be an Avenger not the 2nd and Beast was the first one to join, but I can't wait to read this and buy the whole book,

October 16 2011 at 4:07 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyStorm is not the second X-Man to become an Avenger...that would be Wolverine. Beast was the first.
And I am not happy because knowing how the Bendis game goes she'll get the spotlight for one issue and then since her first name isn't Jessica she'll be shoved aside and turned into furniture just like Ms. Marvel, Mockingbird, and other strong female characters whom Bendis turns into wallpaper because he can't bear the thought of anyone possibly being competition for his babies, Spider-Woman and Jessica Jones. I have nothing against those two characters but it's just the way Bendis does his thing.
Storm might be a good fit for the Avengers but not under Bendis's pen.
"in recent history"

October 15 2011 at 11:51 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyHas everyone forgotten that Beast was an Avenger, and the first X-Man to do so?
October 15 2011 at 10:04 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyStorm - who in the scheme of things received the most character development in Claremont's X-Men run - is one of my all time favourite characters, and I always disliked how she was shunted aside with the return of Cyclops in the 90s.
Damn straight she should be an Avenger. And I really don't see how Ororo would side with Cyclops over Wolverine in this recent schism. Those two were the glue of the team in their darkest days.
I guess with the God of Thunder disappearing for a while to be replaced by Tanarus (possibly), they could do with someone else who controls the forces of weather. She does have more variety than Thor in that regard, anyway. Still, I can't see much place for her when Thor inevitably comes back.
October 15 2011 at 3:15 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI do like the idea of having Storm on the team. I guess having so many people on multiple teams is a weird idea, but as one of the most powerful superheroes out there I'm glad she finally got a shot at the Avengers. Wondering when T'Challa makes his return, though. Even without vibranium-powered tools he has a mindset better suited for large-scale threats than street level stuff.
October 15 2011 at 3:17 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replyi miss the days when characters stuck to one team at a time and the avengers weren't an after-hours club for other teams' heroes
October 15 2011 at 2:05 PM Report abuse Permalink +2 rate up rate down ReplyAgreed. Storm joining the Avengers is a great move but it's only going to work if she occupies that book alone.
October 15 2011 at 3:09 PM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down ReplyI have to agree here. Be one thing say during ReGenisis she decided to chose neither side and I dunno head back to Wakanda but the Avengers then made her a offer or I dunno just pretty much have her leave the X-Men so she's on one team and one book.
