See what you make of Supes' Man of Steel uniform (as much as you can from low-res photos) below:

Mr. Cavill is very handsome, has certainly done the required gym work for the role, and is a credible actor. The new suit [while it takes getting used to] is brilliant in it's modernity; sophisticated muting of "primary" colors and construction of heavy textured rubber. I like the suit so much that I'm truly disappointed that Brandon Routh will not be wearing it. Mr. Routh was the ultimate embodiment of Superman and he certainly could fill out the new concept suit to an incendiary degree.

bravo..bravo...bravo
Aw yiss, queue the terrible nerds judging the final movie based on how much it deviates from tradition.
September 03 2011 at 10:03 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThe yellow in the "S" logo is too dark. The blue is too dark... even the red "S" itself is too dark. It looks like Superman's costume just got pulled out of a soot bin.
And there needs to be a physical cape. A CG cape won't work, as the actor won't react like a person wearing a cape would.
How long before ifanboy "borrows" these pictures from comicsalliance.
September 02 2011 at 2:47 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replyyou know, it is time to move on from our Manly Superheros wearing panties over their costume. I understand that in the day it was to break up the color. But it's time to move on....i vote no panties on Superman...if you were him would you wear them? Hell no!
September 02 2011 at 10:28 AM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down ReplyAlthough, the design of this costume appears intended to draw your eye right to his wang.
September 02 2011 at 12:01 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWell I guess that's the whole package deal.
September 02 2011 at 12:10 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI like the \S/ but the rest of it is over-thought and the coloring is lifeless. ..and I have the sinking feeling his cape is missing in those shots because they're going to CG it in Spawn style.

When both superman and batman started they both had identical costumes that were color swapped. They both consisted of a tight top with an emblem, underpants, tights and boots, cape and in batman's case a mask - basically the costume of a circus strong man. Somewhere along the line, batman evolved and started wearing darker hued costumes with body armor and integrated gadgets, superman remained the same. Batman's character evolved, superman's remained the same. Superman's readership slowly plummeted, Batman's soared. We are gonna get a third batman movie next year, while in 2013 we would be getting a reboot of a reboot for superman. Do you see a pattern yet? Supes is slowly losing his appeal.
Now back to the complaints, these changes are superficial [hopefully], any guy on the street can recognize the picture above as superman's.
1)Do the changes demerit a great character - NO
2)Are the changes a blatant insult to his 70+ years legacy [is his insignia missing, has the cape been shafted, is he now a murderous renegade] - NO
3)Are the changes an insult to his fanbase [think last air bender] - NO
Now google George Reeves/Kirk Alyn's superman, and convince yourself that their silver age portrayal would connect with modern audiences and be a box office win :)
If you read this guy's whole post, you have no life.

September 02 2011 at 12:48 PM Report abuse Permalink +2 rate up rate downI'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt regarding the tone of blue they've chosen (IMO it's too drab, but I'm aware that these are still photos we're looking at, not the finished movie stock). However I'm disappointed by the lack of anything in terms of trunks/belt in red. I'm suspicious of this ant-trunkist agenda DC & Warners are foisting upon us.
