Tortured father.
Selfless act.
New sight.
Sworn oath.
C'mon, you were totally thinking it with that first image there.
Second image, sorry.

But in all seriousness, I hope it works out, but I would think this sort of thing would be better suited for the Midcard/B-Lister and below crowd. Someone who is "Just There" in everyone's comics and could use a push into the spotlight. An Iron Fist "Season One" would be just the thing.

Marvel continues to retell the same stories over and over again, all while keeping the other lines going. How many retellings does spider-man's origin need? X-Men? Does "Graphic Novel Format" matter when the come out in trades anyway? I can't tell if it's a money grab to flood the market, lack of originality or both.
At least DC is risking it all by saying this is going somewhere and going to change something. You can't create great art AND try to please every possible client base.
From what I've read of the X-Men one, these aren't origin retellings. They're more like the "untold" stories that took place between the original comics. Think Whedon's Giant Sized X-Men #3 story. New material, but it takes place off panel during the original Giant Sized X-Men.
