I have a 9 yr old boy living next door to me. I know his family, and I know there aren't books in the house and that his parents aren't the most homework minded, so I made a point of giving him an extra set of X-Men #1-30 I had lying around, along with some random one shots I had picked up over the years so he could try different things out. And now he's reading everything I will let him take out of the house and helping him with his homework. I guess I shouldn't complain, it's just an unintended consequence that I'M the one doing all this!
Coincidentally, his older sister told me she LOVED X-Men #24, the infamous Rogue/Gambit date issue.
One option for trading comics: http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=630

Everything else I either sell on ebay or to Half Price Books. I need some way to fund my future comic purchases.
As some one works at library and loves comics please don't give them to us in most cases. They just don't sell well. Some one donated a stack of Superman comics a month ago and they still haven't sold. Call the library before dropping them off. And if you are looking to donate anywhere, please donate the whole set and leave some on in agony because the cliff-hanger conclusion issue wasn't donated.

July 14 2011 at 4:34 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyAs a librarian, I wish someone would donate a (clean) set of Lost Girls. I already know I wouldn't be able to put them on the shelf, so they'd go the Friends of the Library book sale, where I'd get them for cheap!
July 14 2011 at 3:29 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWow, I can't believe no one has said this yet, but how can giving someone (anyone, but especially a cancer patient!) an issue of Wanted be considered a good deed?
July 14 2011 at 3:25 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI know, right? The idea is completely absurd! Who would have characters engage in an activity so comically ill-conceived in the final panel of a comic strip?
On an unrelated note, I don't believe anyone should hire those three stooges to paint their house. They don't seem to be professionals at all, and in fact physically endanger themselves multiple times throughout the course of the workday.
These are all very good ideas. I usually keep mine because I usually loan them out to friends. I may actually hit up the library to see if I can snag some cheap trades.
