Hilarious and as good a summary as you could give briefly given GL's long and tortured (not to mention successfully retconned) mythology. I love that you made room for the Green Arrow bromance.

ANYway, fun strip! Love the guest appearance by Chris Hansen!
I love Green Lantern> :) This is pretty darn funny.

June 21 2011 at 3:42 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyReading this is pretty alienating. This character is a bizarre corporate zombie with nothing culturally redeemable like the iconic real-world impact of Superman or Batman. And yet this sort of rambling, off-putting "story" is par for the course for superheroes.
Almost no one knew what the hell this "Green Lantern" character was until this movie came out, and it's clear why.
Well, actually, no. "Green Lantern," at its best, is the primary character of a sprawling space opera that combines the action and melodrama of "Star Wars" with the commentary and thoughtfulness of "Star Trek." It's the single most sci-fi of all superhero comics, and at its best, explores themes and ideas about life, the universe, and everything in the best of sci-fi tradition. Don't be so quick to callously dismiss an entire mythos based on a webcomic.

June 20 2011 at 5:01 PM Report abuse Permalink -3 rate up rate down ReplyLord, and to think: that whole piece is of readable length because it's limiting the issue to Hal Jordan, and doesn't even try to explain what went on in real-world industry history with the "Green Lantern" character. (Not a count against the cartoon by any means!)
An actual history of "Green Lantern" explaining the 70-ish-year-old property in terms of creators, dollars, law, business history, marketing maneuvers . . . it would be hard to fit into this format.
The first one was a blond and had a dog, I said, the one time anyone ever asked.
GIVE ME ONE LARGE BREAK TO GO,PLEASE,AND HOLD THE BULLSHIT!!
Cliff's notes would have been more comprehensive that this.
You all but ignored the GL/GA partnership,as well as Hal's period as The Spectre.
Thank God the comics retailers still have anthology collections. That seems to be the only place to get
the FULL DISCLOSURE anymore.
I've got a bad feeling about this 'DC reboot'.
BRRRREAEERRG! Yell and things!

Is it just me, or does Hal Jordan feel like DC's Mary Sue?
