Although in his seventies, Sergio Aragonés
shows no signs of slowing down. The legendary cartoonist of Mad Magazine
and Groo the Wanderer
will soon launch a new ongoing series at Matt Groening's Bongo Comics
called, aptly enough, Sergio Aragonés Funnies
. While the master has been working in a relatively traditional narrative mode for quite a while with various The Simpsons
titles for Bongo, Funnies
will be a direct dose of anarchic Aragonés straight into the brain.
Shipping monthly starting in July, Sergio Aragones Funnies
will be a sort of comic book piñata for Aragonés fans, featuring all-new work in a wild assortment of flavors.
Each issue offers an assortment of autobiographical anecdotes, perplexing puzzles, slap-happy short stories, as well as Sergio's unique and hilarious pantomimes and gags. With this new series, the world's most beloved cartoonist continues to prove that humor is truly a universal language!
Fans of Aragonés' Simpsons
work need not worry, for the cartoonist will continue to work on those Bongo titles as well, as the company co-founder Bill Morrison told Comic Book Resources
back in December.
