Pretty cute write-up, with nice integration of all the continuities we've had over the years. If anyone's interested, this weekend's episodes of the Golden Age Superman podcast will be looking at Luthor's first appearances in Action Comics 23 and Superman 4. Golden Age Superman is on iTunes and at goldenagesuperman dot libsyn dot com.

That was a nice touch, well done!
"...even the cakes."
And that's terrible.
Bless your black little hearts, Franklin & Haley.
He blew up New Krypton? Goddammit! That is the one comic I wanted to read, I hated those assholes! Anyone have a number on that?
Why is son in quotations in reference to Superboy? Superboy is his son despite Clark's lack of understanding of how genetics work.
Lex considers Conner his "son", but Superman thinks of Kon-El as a "younger brother".
Technically, Lex is correct, since a son (or daughter) carries half your DNA, as is the case here.
Well, it gets more complicated if you realize this is a bit of an origin collage, bouncing from Pre-Crisis Earth Two Luthor to Pre-Crisis Earth One Luthor (or alternatively, the brand-new Secret Origins) to Post-Crisis Man of Steel/Bryne-era to post-Infinite Crisis and then (back) to Secret Origins. It *looks* like a coherent narrative, but it's retcon city.

I mean, you mentioned Superboy, sure, but you forgot that he was the result of TWU WUV^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hgenetic manipulation that certainly wouldn't convince Superman that he has a son.
February 25 2011 at 10:16 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyLuther is one of the unsung characters in terms of his crazily confusing history. His age has gone up and down over the years from being in his 60s to a little older than Clark. He had three kids who have been retconned out of existence (I'm pretty sure his most recent daughter is no longer around) and a sister who retconned out and just retconned back in.
February 24 2011 at 11:16 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyLuthor had red hair in at least a couple of stories--Action #23 and Superman #4--and he had a full head of hair in #5, although my Archives has it colored gray.
