The success of Christopher Nolan's "Inception" has had a lot of viewers (ourselves included) pondering the nature of dreams - specifically the idea of layered realities or dreams within dreams. So naturally, "Calvin and Hobbes" creator Bill Watterson explored the matter to some extent with his beloved brand of insight and whimsy more than a decade ago.

Featured by Blastr yesterday, Watterson's classic strip sees Calvin walk out of his front door on his way to school only to plummet to his death from his inexplicably elevated abode -- twice! After experiencing a nightmare within a nightmare, Calvin is left to confront his perception of reality. Fortunately Calvin's optimistic nature left him to reenter his waking life without the kind of nagging doubts that caused life-altering problems for the cast of characters in "Inception." Perhaps Hobbes was his totem?
