The documentary "Confessions of a Superhero" introduced the world to the costumed heroes of Hollywood Boulevard -- most of them aspiring actors who take pictures with tourists for money while dressed as characters like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. Well, hard times have come to the heroes of Hollywood, as a recent crackdown has cleared the costumed performers from the street where they had become something of an institution.
Check out a local news clip after the jump, which painfully describes the new law as a "Zorro Tolerance Policy," and says that eight costumed performers were arrested last weekend. One performer, Christopher Dennis, who appeared dressed as Superman in "Confessions," speaks in the clip about how barren Hollywood Boulevard feels now without its heroic panhandling defenders.

Oh, man, that is tragic. And that movie was fantastic. Christopher Dennis in particular was something else (he falsely told everyone he knew that he was Sandy Dennis's long-lost son). This is actually quite sad.

Is this the end of Hollywood? I just was there and it was deserted. And to top it off, the biggest landmark in Los Angeles - the HOLLYWOOD sign doesn't light up at night anymore!
Who moves onto the hills and complains about the lights being on? Live someplace else! That's ridiculous!! You people are crazy.
It's like moving next to the statue of liberty and telling her the torch is too bright.
What's even more insane is that the city is doing it, and honestly, it's ruining the place...because LA doesn't have much else going for it really as far as attractions go.

It's not that uncommon, close to where I live they put up houses within 1/4 of a mile from a race track that has been in operation since the 30s. People who bought the homes are petitioning to shut down the track due to noise, traffic and reduced air quality.

I guess now they'll have to dress like normal insane transients while begging for money.

Is this what you do all day? Just sit at your computer and criticize anyone who doesn't agree with you? Boy, I would hate to be you!!

No. Is this what YOU do all day? Sit at the computer all day and condescendingly accuse people of being critical of imaginary disagreements and pretend you're not being an enormous hypocrite in the process? Please get over yourself.

Because the LAPD is a bunch of cowardly worthless Nazis. They go after people who they know won't fight back or cause them any trouble, while the REAL threats to the city (gang members) are given a wide berth because THEY have guns and shoot back. The cops get paid WAY too much for the unskilled laborers they really are, and the reason they are supposed to be getting that ridiculous pay is to fight ACTUAL crime - not pester citizens with nuisance harassment charges like this. LAPD is the biggest bunch of worthless loser a-holes on the planet.
