Look For This Buried Treasure at MoCCA

If you're making the pilgrimage to New York to attend this weekend's Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art (MoCCA) Art Festival at the Puck Building (the Comics Alliance will be hanging around, taking names), I envy you as you'll be exposed to some of the best and most interesting cartoonists working in the alternative realm, like my friend, special guest and newest, coolest Dad, Jeffrey Brown.

Speaking from past experiences at indy shows like MoCCA, SPX and Staple!, you can never predict what cool comics or people you'll find there. That said, much of it the work you'll find is truly unique and wonderful and, for the most part, you'll be buying it directly from the cartoonist, a great and unexpected pleasure.

Along the lines of unique finds at MoCCA, I strongly recommend stopping at table A-45 in the Skylight Ballroom first. Why? A group of cartoonists from the Center for Cartoon Studies will unveil their latest project, Sundays, a 54-page black-and-white anthology collecting large-format (11x17), single-page comics, wrapped around a screen-printed cover.

One extra reason to take a good look at Sundays: It features a brand new and very rare one-page story by Steve Bissette (Swamp Thing, Taboo) devoted to his late, lamented series, Tyrant, the first in more than a decade.
