It wasn't long ago that Joss Whedon made an offer to buy the rights to the "Terminator" franchise for the sarcastically low bid of $10,000. Now, his brother and "Dr. Horrible" collaborator Zack Whedon is picking up his pen to shape the future of the metallic mankind-killers via Dark Horse Comics.

The announcement was made at Techland, where Whedon elaborated on his love of the medium and described his upcoming six-issue role in the future robot war.

I just turned in the first script and I'm very excited about it. I love Terminator. I think that movie is so good. Holy Toledo is it good. Now I get to play in that universe and make up Terminator stories of my own that people will get to read. I am not a big-time, famous dude and yet now I am choreographing action sequences set in a post-apocalyptic future overrun by evil cybernetic organisms hell bent on destroying the human race. How is that possible?! I'll answer your question, Made-Up Person. It's possible because in comics it doesn't cost 150 million dollars to tell that story. They can put an idiot like me in charge!

This will be Whedon's second comic to see print following this week's "Dr. Horrible" #1, a prequel of sorts to the Emmy Award-winning Webisodic "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" musical starring Neil Patrick Harris.

There's no word on when Whedon's "Terminator" project will manifest, but it'd be pretty awesome if it came out in the far, far future and traveled back to the present for fans to read -- naked, of course (the comic, not the fans).
