GM releases another shot of the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu (Autoblog)
Apr 17th 12:30 PM: Compared to the Sonata/Optima, this looks rather dated and stodgy. Obviously from the same group that styled the hideous Terrain, with a blunt, bulky front possibly dictated by Euro pedestrian impact safety standards.
Belated April Fools? Audi A5 leans into corners like a motorcycle [w/video] (Autoblog)
Apr 14th 9:39 PM: Not new and w-a-a-a-a-y too slow.
Fiat 500 Design Collection joins our fantasy living room (Autoblog)
Apr 14th 10:05 AM: The rest of it is in the shop, as usual. From personal experience: I had a Fiat X1/9. I can't remember a month that didn't have at least $350 in repairs, from the window lifts to the clutch actuator. It was built for dry climates, as witnessed by the paperboard air inlet tubing in the rear quarter to the carpet padding that retained water and rotted the floor, to the undrained well behind the rear wheels that filled with leaked water and rotted out. Never, ever again.
Ward's Automotive picks best car interiors of 2011 (Autoblog)
Apr 11th 6:36 PM: My "kid" does interiors for a major, but won't tell what he works on. I hope he did some of the ones mentioned. He needs the money to make up for the 75% drop in his MI house value.

Apr 9th 10:14 AM: From past history, if you want a powertrain like this with better handling at the same price, find the equivalent Kia. It could be worth the wait.
Opinion: If distracted driving is such an epidemic, why don't statistics show it? (Autoblog)
Apr 7th 10:25 PM: The attention involved in phone use is much higher than just glancing at a roadside incident, as the driver must process many types of brain inputs and outputs simultaneously. I've had several near misses with involved, oblivious drivers. An attorney friend who does personal injury cases always goes harder after the phone users. He has a cell phone but never uses it in a moving car, hasn't caused an accident in decades, but has been hit by two otherwise safe drivers, who got so taken up in their phone use that they never saw him until he appeared in their grilles.
Cell phones are why I've put air horns in all of our vehicles.
Art Deco French dream machines to cross the auction block at Villa d'Este (Autoblog)
Apr 7th 10:01 AM: Even the Tata's a better driver than these, but haven't you ever lusted after something that was intriguingly gorgeous regardless of its faults? Have you ever paid a divorce attorney because of it?
Ford shows off 67-mpg Focus Econetic ahead of Amsterdam debut (Autoblog)
Apr 6th 3:49 PM: Diesel pumps are harder to find, are generally thought to be smellier along with the exhaust, and the cars are noisier and a lot more expensive to repair. Price a battery some time. They also have a truck stop image, all from the first diesels sold here. The onus hasn't disappeared. It'll take a long time for diesels to gain a bigger market share, as they're priced near hybrids, which use pump gas.
Spy Shots: 2012 Nissan Tiida hatch (pronounced: "Versa") caught ahead of Shanghai reveal (Autoblog)
Apr 6th 3:38 PM: When the guys from Lexus see that grille, they're going to have a cow.
Report: Renault Captur concept to spearhead family of CUVs (Autoblog)
Apr 5th 3:12 PM: Typical concept: Impossibly oversized wheels and restricted rear vision. And it's ugly, too.
