Deadpool And Iron Man Getting Hearty SDCC Exclusive Minimates Sets From AFX

Minimates collectors may want to secure some clear shelf space before San Diego Comic-Con on July 17-21, especially if they're keen on Iron Man and Deadpool. Action Figure Xpress has announced an exclusive new "Deadpool Assemble" box set packing Cable-Pool, Captain Ameri-Pool, Thor-Pool and Phonics-Killer Iron Deadpool, plus a massive Iron Man 3 "Hall of Armors" 10-pack that stocks eight of Shellhead's most iconic movie suits, along with 'mates of Tony Stark and Pepper Potts.

Both sets will be available at the Action Figure Xpress (booth #3345) during SDCC, and likely afterward at the AFX online store provided there are leftovers. The Deadpool set will cost $22, with the Iron Man 3 set running $55.

On top of repackaging some of the Iron Man trilogy's marquee armors, the IM3 box set's Tony and Pepper figures are unique to the set, which should interest completists.

As far as the Deadpool set goes, the figures are all-new across the board, even if they recycle certain Minimates sculpts by necessity to accomplish the almost surprisingly canonical comic book character mashups.

Things Go From Kitty To Gritty In 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Villain Microseries' #3: Old Hob [Preview]

Created just for the new continuity of IDW's current ongoing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic book series, new villain Old Hob was one of the first (furry) faces fans were introduced to when the book's first issue arrived in 2011. Beginning life as a mutant by attempting to straight up eat an ooze-covered Raphael before having his eye gouged out by a still-normal-rat Splinter, the new villain's predatory instincts have since culminated in one of Casey Jones and Raph's worst beatings in the series thus far. This week in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Villain Microseries #3: Old Hob by writer Jason Ciaramella, artist Dave Wachter and colorist Tyler Walpole, however, fans will have a chance to see another side of Hob and learn what set the kitty down a life of brutality.From IDW's official solicitation info:

Get A First Look Inside Tobin And Coover's 'Bandette Vol. 1: Presto!' Hardcover From Dark Horse [Preview]

Fans found out about Monkeybrain's plans to partner with Image and IDW for print collections of its ComiXology offerings back in February, and now it seems Dark Horse will join the fray on November 6 with Bandette Vol. 1: Presto! Collecting the first five issues of Paul Tobin and Colleen Coover's Eisner Award-nominated Bandette series (for Best New Series, Best Penciller/Inker, Best Coloring and Best Digital Comic) starring perhaps the most charming young superheroic thief to grace either the printed or digital page since Lupin III. In anticipation of the hardcover, Dark Horse Comics has provided ComicsAlliance with a first look at "Daniel's Story," an original prose story just for the hardcover collection written by Tobin and featuring spot illustrations by Coover.

On top of packing the first five issues of Bandette and "Daniel's Story," the 144-page Presto! will also be home to a special script excerpt, a "Making of the art" section, a foreward by Paul Cornell (Saucer Country, Wolverine) and special "Urchin's Tales" backups by Steve Lieber, Jonathan Case, Erika Moen, Alberto J. Alburquerque, Tina Kim, Jennifer Meyer, Rich Ellis, and Mitch Gerads. Usually that much talent in one place warrants a special superhero team name, but in this case, the assembly seems more like happy allies akin to Bandette's own community of friends and admirers, no?

Hot Toys Crafts A Super 'Man Of Steel' Henry Cavill Likeness, Man

Given its history of early action figure image teasers, Hot Toys had seemed super quiet regarding any potential Man of Steel merchandise, but it appears that the toymaker was simply waiting for the right time to wow fans with its trademark so-real-you-can't-believe-it's-not-real 1/6th scale Superman collectible figure. Celebrated by Hot Toys as its 200th collectible figure in the ongoing Movie Masterpiece line, the toy, it's haunting Henry Cavill likeness, swappable hands and special S-shield base will come with an extra-special bonus: a 1:1 scale Kryptonian Command Key just as seen in the MoS movie. Pricing and availability info has yet to be revealed, but those seeking their own miniature Man of Steel will probably want to save up around $240 or more by later this year if the Christopher Reeve HT figure from awhile back was any indication. All The DC Comics Goodness We've Seen From 'Scribblenauts Unmasked' So Far [Video]

Warner Bros. Entertainment and 5th Cell Media confirmed April's rumors of a Scribblenauts/DC Comics title in a big way in May with the official announcement of Scribblenauts Unmasked and a corresponding trailer and set of screen shots demonstrating protagonist Maxwell's future adventures with the heroes and villains of the DCU powered by his noun-manifesting magical notebook. They didn't stop there, though, sharing evermore preview images across social media, giving players a broader look at Scribblenauts-ified DC characters and locations, plus gameplay functionality unique to game such as the game's Super Hero Creator module and Batcomputer. Are you ready for Scribblenauts Mogo?

While most of the promo images focus on DC's most iconic characters and locations such as Batman and Robin in the Batcave, Superman in the Fortress of Solitude, Aquaman in Atlantis and scads of Green Lanterns on Oa, 5th Cell has been giving plenty of love to its perhaps less prominent characters. A recent image, for example, sees Atrocitus, Blue Beetle (Ted Kord), and Beast Boy assemble for what appears to be Mogo's birthday party. Justice League Dark stars Constantine, Zatanna and Madame Xanadu assemble with Maxwell in another image. Even Ma Hunkel makes a kind of appearance in a preview image of the Super Hero Creator, which will give players the chance to put together their own hero or villain from body parts, clothing and items unique to the DCU.

A new Nintendo video from E3 showcasing third party Wii U/3DS titles has about 20 seconds of footage from around the 1:01-1:20 minute mark. The Bat-Fam are the main stars (including "Scary Stephanie Brown"), but Firestorm can also be seen floating around.

I wasn't able to hit HeroesCon this past weekend in sunny Charlotte, North Carolina, but I was able to routinely refresh my social media feeds from the comfort of my own home. As always at Heroes, an assemblage of awesome artists were cutting loose with wild commissions befitting the jovial spirit of the show, but only Erica Henderson (known in part for her work on Subatomic Party Girls with Chad Bowers and CA's own Chris Sims) was genius -- or perhaps nefarious? -- enough to upload a series of farting sketches starring your favorite superheroes. First 'Batman: Arkham Origins' Gameplay Footage Arrives, Along With Knightfall And '66 Costumes [Video]

Getting the jump on this week's E3, WB Games Montréal has released the first gameplay trailer for Batman: Arkham Origins. The new gameplay vid expands on the game's previously seen trailer and screen shots, and gives pending players a look at Bane, Deathstroke, Black Mask, Deadshot and the Joker in action (although Bane and Joker technically debuted in action figure form yesterday). Fans can also get a look at Batman's new "Crime Scene system" and Remote Claw gadget... which, are kind of better than stuff he had in Arkham Asylum/Arkham City and make the whole prequel thing confusing, but whatever - it looks like it's going to be pretty fun beating up a lot of famous villains for the first time as a young silvery-suited Batman! Handheld gamers will note that this trailer doesn't give any insight into Batman: City Origins Blackgate, which is set to hit the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita alongside Arkham Origins on October 25, but perhaps E3 will yield more video later this week?

If the new video isn't enough, Joystiq has discovered that the PlayStation 3 will receive DLC content based on the 1993-94 "Knightfall" storyline, which saw Bruce Wayne's spine shattered at the hands of Bane... and a psycho bro with long hair take over for him in a rad armored costume with tons of thigh pouches. On the sunnier side, the righteous Batman '66 suit will also be an option.

Batman: Arkham Origins is set for release on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii U and PC.

'Dig Comics' Hits Kickstarter To Fund A Full-Fledged Film Boosting Sequential Art

Back in 2010 ComicsAlliance talked to Miguel Cima about Dig Comics, his short film blending anthropology and evangelism with the express aim of getting more people -- especially Americans -- to read and love comics of all kinds. While Cima's initial roughly 20-minute short was successful at film festivals and comic conventions, it remained a labor of love as he and his team spent their own money and free time to produce and promote their message until the right financial backers could be found to bring a full-fledged feature or other substantial media project to life. Now, in today's crowd funding climate, Dig Comics is appealing to current comic readers and fans on Kickstarter to "to help educate, teach, learn, enjoy, evolve & carry on the positive, creative, comics torch into the future and beyond!" by funding a full-length Dig Comics movie.

The Dig Comics team is seeking $250,000 on Kickstarter to produce and release their planned feature, with backers at the $10 level receiving a digital download of the completed film and exclusive updates on the filmmakers' progress. Higher backing levels yield items like messenger bags, hats, physical DVD copies of the film featuring exclusive bonus content, coffee table books, in-person screenings, and even the chance to join the team as a creative producer.

DC Collectibles Solicitations For September 2013

If you were worried DC Collectibles had already shown its hand earlier this month with the reveal of its upcoming New 52 Swamp Thing and Supervillains series Deathstroke action figures, today's full September solicitations release ought to put the toy and statue segment of your mind at ease. DC video game fans should be pleased to see new Joker and Bane figures from this fall's Batman: Arkham Origins video game, standing at 6.85" and 8.25" tall, respectively. Also on the B:AO menu will be a "Black & White" edition statue of Batman himself sculpted by Gentle Giant. Meanwhile the battle arena game version by the name of Infinite Crisis will get a statue of the "Arcane" Green lantern from Earth-13. 'Man Of Steel' Mobile Brawler To Launch Alongside Movie [Video]

Between Injustice: Gods Among Us and Justice League: Earth's Final Defense, fans have had no shortage of video game brawlers starring Superman of late. With the release of Man of Steel on June 14, though, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Phosphor Games Studio have announced they'll loose a specifically movie-flavored option for fans on iOS and Android, plus Google Play and the Amazon Appstore the same day for roughly $3-5 depending on the device. The 3D-fighter will, of course, put players in control of Superman as he squares off against film antagonists and fellow Kryptonians General Zod, Faora and others on the Kent Farm in Smallville. Bonus content includes unlockable costumes seemingly specific just to the film (stuff like space suits and armor), meaning fans probably shouldn't expect electric Red/Blue DLC suits.From the game's official description:

Developed by Phosphor Games Studio, Man of Steel provides players with two diverse game modes. Featuring custom, console-quality cinematic sequences, Story Mode transports players directly to Smallville, the Kent Farm and other familiar settings to battle General Zod and save Earth from its destruction. In Survival Mode, fans see how long they can last against a progressively more difficult swarm of Zod's forces. Players can share their scores with friends to see who the ultimate Man of Steel is, as well as upgrade their skills and unlock new suits by winning battles and earning experience points along the way.

The release is sort of significant in that it's the first solo Superman video game since the similarly mobile Superman HD by Tiger Games and Chillingo Ltd, which dropped in 2011 but has since been removed from iTunes. Given that Superman console titles (and movie tie-in titles in general) have historically fared less-than-critically-successful, this is potentially the meatiest game fans will get from the Man of Steel merchandise rollout.
