Take Medieval armor, reimagine as an Ironman-esque power suit (steel colored, less flashy though), add some mystic sigils carved into the armor as ornamentation.
Now put a Green tunic over the front, a black thick leather belt around the waist and a hooded green cloak. Some ornamentation is a good idea, it is a regal character after all, but limit the flashy bits to some gold trim or a darker green tint.

Done. If you want to use the actor himself for scenes with his face it\'s a simple fix. Holographic Image Projector, when he walks away you realize the armani suit was fake and he was in the armor the whole time. Or you could have the face plate open and show his scarred face like Ironman does. The amount of scarring is up for SOME discretion, but at least 1/4 of the visible face should be badly burned or scarred in some fashion. (this also limits the makeup needed to make the character as you dont have to do his whole head and face, just some of the exposed bits.)

That\'s off the top of my head, and leaves enough to use the actor, make sense in aesthetics and history, and not look like crap. I think they get it wrong because they don\'t bother to do any research, they just read a short one sentence description and make the rest up rather than actually researching what they are discussing.
