It was a bit of a groaner, but it had to be done. I am reminded of the super-hero cocktail party with the original cast, which included John Belushi as Hulk. An updated version of that skit might've played well for those who remember the first couple of seasons. In those days, if you were at a party, it would get quiet while everybody watched the show.

It worked better than the "Robot Chicken" bit where Black Widow was on the team more for her sexiness than combat skill. And watching Bobby Moyinhan stick his hand off-camera, followed by a giant Hulk hand come up on another camera . . . I laughed. I might be an easy mark, but I laughed.
And at least they got the Cth . . . Chto . . . the Incredibly Generic Aliens' costumes right.
I know that SNL is three days of writing and two days of rehearsal. It's hard to get a lot of good stuff in such a short period of time, but I think massive amounts of cocaine are responsible for how awesome the first four or five years of this show were.
SNL will never go off the air. It's a staple.
All that being said, this is a God-awful skit.
I thought it was a great skit but I'm a big SNL fan. My favorite part is Hawkeye just wanting to leave once he's out of arrows. If you want to see a better skit from that episode check this out:

Man, I cringed with embarrassment just watching this. How is this show still on the air?

It was hilarious how they made a point to show that HawkEye seemed to be a character that didn’t stand out in the movie. I was working late at DISH last night, so I couldn’t see the show live on TV. I was able to see the show this morning on DISH Online, though. It was pretty great! I sure hope he hosts again in the future, and I can’t wait to see the new things he has coming up in the future.

November 19 2012 at 4:12 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWow, they flubbed the delivery on the "take 'em out" joke. Oh, Saturday Night Live. It's amazing how much work goes into making a show that everybody just shrugs and says hasn't been good since whatever their highschool years were.
November 19 2012 at 12:30 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyYeah, that was a waste. They even just straight up stole a joke from the movie itself (calling Thor "Point Break").
