Marvel NOW! Sam Humphries And Ron Garney Team For Teased 'Killers' Title In January
As Marvel closes a week that's been highlighted by a second wave of teasers for its Marvel NOW! initiative, the publisher has provided ComicsAlliance with a first look at an image highlighting another new creative team taking over as yet unidentified title. Writer Sam Humphries will be teaming with artist Ron Garney on a book that's being teased with a graphic that, like the others, simply features one enigmatic word: Killers.
Marvel NOW! is publishing plan whereby Marvel Comics will launch (or in several cases, relaunch) new ongoing series nearly every week between October 2012 and February 2013. While not a reboot of its long-running narratives and mythologies, Marvel NOW! will see several series such as Iron Man and Captain America and Thor launch or relaunch with #1 issues. Naturally, Marvel NOW! brings with it cosmetic changes for Marvel's most popular characters and a disruption of the status quo for many series, perhaps most dramatically in the form of reassigning its most popular writers and artists to different Marvel franchises for the first time in many years. You can read more about the initiative in our interview with Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada, Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso and Executive Editor Tom Brevoort.
Humphries' recent work on such Marvel titles as Ultimates and John Carter: Gods of Mars has been well received, so it should come as no surprise that the publisher is giving him more titles to work on. And Garney is of course a fan-favorite and longtime Marvel artist, having worked on Hulk, Daredevil, Captain America and, most recently, Wolverine.
As for the image itself, it's not clear exactly what the title might be, but that's what the comment section is for! Care to take a guess?

Wasn't Punisher supposed to join X-FORCE? I haven't read the last few issues. That would be a great addition. from what I've read ABOUT Humphries he should do a good job on this new X-FORCE. And Garney's work on Aaron's WEAPON X was great fun.

September 07 2012 at 1:02 PM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down ReplyNot to discredit Hopeless or Humphries, but am I the only one who'd rather see Marvel's "A-List" writers on the more off-brand books and their second-string talent given a chance on the A-List characters?
And yeah, it's certainly looking like Humphries is replacing Remender on X-Force.
Hopeless is a great writter and that's what matters.
September 07 2012 at 5:21 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyX-Force, Wolverine, or Punisher related is my guess.
September 07 2012 at 12:40 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replymaybe all 3. it suddenly occurs to me wouldn't X-Force be kind of the ideal team for Punisher to join? who else would have him as a member?
September 07 2012 at 2:13 PM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down ReplyRon Garney awesome, glad to see him again. This could be either X-Force or Annihilators.
September 07 2012 at 12:39 PM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down Replywhy would it be Annihilators?
September 07 2012 at 2:12 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyIt's not Annihilators, especially since the Guardians of the Galaxy are back.
