When he does the pose as the lightning flashed, I couldn't help but go "OH SH*T!!"" out loud at work.

I had He-Man on a minute ago. There was a classic Filmation-y shot where Teela's getting captured by some bad guy and...well, it looks like Poochie getting beamed up to his home planet. It's just a still pose being dragged upward across the background.
Not 1980s TV animation, 1980s Film Animation obviously...
"Akira" immediately comes to mind as a good example. Ditch the computer stuff and animate it all by hand. Lose the polished look. At the very least, some type of '80s vibe should be there-- if not in animation style then in the music.
The "Legends of the Dark Knight" TDKR segment from TNBA was incredibly successful in capturing the atmosphere of the book. So far this hasn't impressed me nearly as much as that scene did.
They captured Miller's style for drawing people pretty well, I think. You can see it in the eyes and the shape of the faces and jaws, particularly. That old cop's chin is 100% Miller.

August 28 2012 at 6:10 PM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down ReplySorry Mike, I overlooked your comment.
August 28 2012 at 6:12 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThis trailer fills me with more glee that it should, and I'm so glad they split this into two movie to keep the story intact.
I just hope they don't do a re-release of the original graphic novel with "updated" coloring. I mean, a reprint is fine, I've been meaning to buy one a copy for a while now, but no butchering of the original art for me.
And say what you will about Frank Miller, his Batman stuff from pre-going-crazy is really fun.
I'm gonna buy this so hard.
August 28 2012 at 5:12 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Reply(Peter Weller, not Frank Weller)
Anyway, looks great! I hope they don't wimp out, and remove Superman from Part 2.
No way they'd remove Superman, that fight is one of the most beloved beloved scenes in comics.
