I would love to pretend to get drunk with her. i would wait until she pasted out then shave her head. I would shave mine too. That way I could confuse her into thinking we both decided to shave our heads and donate the hair to the cancer people who need it. But really i would take her hair and try to derive a superpower pill. Yeah it is me.

If I was one of Mar-Vell's kids (now that family 'd make for a good Comics Everybody), I 'd be pissed that this drunk is soiling my father 's good name.
Everyone gets a Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free card for Marvel events that suck, quit bitching.

Seriously, what the hell was with the Marcus storyline. Did the writer and editor got drunk and bashed their brains with hammers and thought this sexist, wretched turd was remotely good? Good bloody grief.
Jim Shooter (the editor at the time) actually claimed on his blog recently that he didn't remember seeing that story before having it brought to his attention earlier this year.

I think I might pick up this new series, is it really confusing if you don't give a **** about Ms. Marvel's history?
August 16 2012 at 11:37 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThe new series is awesome! And, as somebody that had never read anything with Ms/Captain Marvel in it, i find it pretty accessible. :)

August 16 2012 at 4:21 PM Report abuse Permalink -11 rate up rate down ReplyI…I did not know that bit about Marcus was a story arc.
That's…pretty crazy! Especially that bit about the Avengers going, "…eh," about it all.
That aside, what I've heard about the latest DeConnick run is that it's great, and I hope to read what I can of it soon!
Yeah, it's a pretty controversial bit of nonsense that so offended Chris Claremont, he wrote a story in Avengers Annual #10 as a platform for calling out the Avengers (i.e., the editors) for letting Carol's inter-dimensional incestual rape happen without anyone blinking an eye. Also: Introduction of Rogue.
August 16 2012 at 5:43 PM Report abuse Permalink +2 rate up rate down Replyto be fair, in the original story it was not at all portrayed as being against her will and that's why the Avengers didn't do anything to stop it. it wasn't until the later Claremont story that it was retconned to be rape/kidnapping. not that that really makes the story much less weird.
August 16 2012 at 11:32 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replyalso interesting: according to the late great Mark Gruenwald the story was originally supposed to be about the Kree Supreme Intelligence impregnating her, but some Kree/Skrull War What If? issue came out right around the same time that had a similar Supreme Intelligence baby story in it so editors had Michelinie rewrite it at the last minute.
August 16 2012 at 11:44 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate downActually, the squicky stuff was always present in the story, the Avengers just didn't pay any attention. Actual quote from Avengers #200: "...Finally, after relative weeks of such efforts -- and admittedly, with a subtle boost from Immortus' machines -- you became mine." -Marcus, explaining how he used mind control to have limbo sex.
August 18 2012 at 3:15 PM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate downMan. If there's one character in the Marvel Universe who could actually benefit from a DC-style continuity reboot, it's Carol Danvers.
That whole Marcus thing just needs to have never existed.

A countdown of the must-read books of the year.
