Man, Clifton James was *the* go-to guy for fat sheriffs for the longest time, wasn't he?

I don't know about the kitchen, but the Donner cut does reveal the Fortress of Solitude does have a bathroom.

Yeah, Superman II is *mostly* pretty solid until he talks to ghost mom and "permanently" removes his powers. After that happens, I think "Kneel before Zod!" is it's only redeeming feature.

I dig the big fight scene fairly well.

But, the Donner cut, while flawed itself (both story wise, and in the way it is pieced together from mixed elements, including screen tests) is significantly superior as a film. But it also doesn't resolve this plot hole any.

And, of course, there is the fondue scene that Lester filmed but completely missed the joke on to go with those groceries...

I always assumed Zod had the telekinesis powers before he showed up on Earth. He seems pretty comfortable with them. Who is to say in this movie kryptonians didn't have some kind of power before they came to earth? And who is to say that every Kryptonian would have same powers when they got there? Jor-El? Seriously, what does he know about this really? Where is my no prize DC?

The Donner Cut has two things going for it: Superman does not kill the Phantom Zone Crimanls or maroon Lex Luthor on the Fortress of Solitude. He hands the four of them over to the authorities.

I think It also cut out the corny american flag scene which I kind of enjoyed and the part where he promises the president he'll never leave again...

Silver and Bronze Age Superman DID have the power to travel through time. That did go away until Byrne & Co. took over the Superman titles in the mid-80s.

Is it not implied that Superman has super-ejaculation, and that's why he has to get rid of his powers? That's what I got out of it.

Yeah, Mallrats "... out her back like a shotgun."
On the Mallrats commentary Smith actually speculates that whole exchange is why he got the writing job for his failure of a Superman movie.

Haven't seen Mallrats, or read the Niven piece (reading it now, in stitches), but it's nice to know that this wasn't just happening in my head.

I'd credit Larry Niven's "Men of Steel, Women of Kleenex" with popularizing this idea, really. The Mallrats speech was really just a dumber version of it.

You say that Non is not the muscle, but on Krypton, when none of them had any powers, he WOULD HAVE been.
