Convention season is upon us! This weekend it's the Emerald City Comicon in Seattle and, if you're planning on attending, we've put together a handy list of some of the more interesting sounding panels and events. Chances are pretty good that we'll be covering a lot of the news out of the con this weekend and early next week here-no less than three of our number will be in attendance-but, in the meantime, here's a look back at some of last week's news, after the jump.


Publishing:

-Marvel continues to tease their upcoming Spider-Men project... which is starting to look like it may actually be the once-unthinkable crossover between Ultimate Spider-Man and regular Spider-Man

-Akira creator Katsuhiro Otomo is set to work on a new long-form manga

-Image Comics Publisher Eric Stephenson explains why a comic book selling out isn't exactly the best news...the same week Marvel announced their sell-out of Avengers Vs. X-Men #0

TV:

-A few more projects from the men of the Man of Action collective are in development for television and film

-A CGI Batman cartoon entitled Beware the Batman co-starring Alfred and Katana has been confirmed, and some of the unusual villain choices revealed

-Check out this compilation of every single window cameo from the 1966 live-action Batman TV show

-The team starring in the second season of Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes will apparently be having a membership drive, based on the looks of this single, character-packed still from the show. If they all make the cut, then it looks like they may rival the Justice League of Justice League Unlimited in terms of members.


Toys:

-Sims enjoyed the latest commercial for Avengers toys, and provides some context of past Marvel toy commercials

-Funko has created an 11" tall Shogun Warriors-style Batman robot toy

-Not picking sides in the eternal struggle of Marvel Vs. DC, Lego released promos of their wares that tie into both of this summer's big super-movies this week

-Hot Toys' Hawkeye action figure is a disturbing plastic homunculus version of Jeremy Renner. We mean that in a good way.


Theater:

-(Wait, theater? Really?) IDW and Topps are maybe seeking to bring Mars Attacks, the bubble gum cards-turned-film-turned-comic book to Broadway, we guess.




Art:

-Gene Gonzales' 60s-style redesigns for The Catwoman, Riddler and Death of The Endless

-Link, Ramona, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, Robocop...artist Jesus Alberto Garza Lopez draws some of our favorite things

-Here's a gallery of Draw Something drawings by...well, by you guys

-Eric Palmer creates 8-bit videogame style posters for superhero and other favorite genre movies. They are awesome

-Artist Bjorn Hurri's steam punk Star Wars art puts a wookie in a top hat...and does some other rather cool stuff too, but man, it's hard to beat a wookie in a top hat.
