When Disney XD debuts its Marvel Universe programming block this weekend, it won't just be the premiere of Ultimate Spider-Man and the second season of Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes that you'll be tuning in to enjoy. Also on offer? The first in a series of many drawing lessons from Marvel's Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada as he teaches you how to draw the heroes you love from comic books, cartoons and, of course, multi-million dollar movies like this summer's Marvel's The Avengers. Click through to find out what it takes to draw the Hulk.
Quesada's series of drawing lessons, titled Master Class, are just one part of the additional content that'll be airing during commercial breaks of the cartoons at the core of Marvel Universe, which begins this Sunday on the kid-centric cable channel. If you're not looking for art classes, there'll also be short introductions to Marvel characters in Fury Files, a look at the science and stunts behind classic Marvel moments in Animated Reality and What Would It Take, and Marvel Mash-Up, which makes fun of the Marvel Universe with the help of old cartoons and new voiceovers.
Of course, the real draw for Marvel Universe remains Ultimate Spider-Man, the new animated series inspired by Brian Michael Bendis' long-running comic of the same name, which launched in 2000. With input from Quesada, Bendis, Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb and the Man of Action team of Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, Duncan Rouleau and Steven T. Seagle, the new series sees Peter Parker teaming up with Luke Cage, Iron Fist, White Tiger and an all-new version of the Nova character who will also make an appearance in Marvel Comics' much-hyped Avengers vs. X-Men series.
Marvel Universe launches April 1 on Disney XD at 11am Eastern and Pacific.
