I'd love to know what other dramas (and yes, it is a drama) you think are better, because there's not many. Yeah, some of the characters are annoying. Holy crap, so are some of you! It's just like real life.
Robert Kirkman is helping to write the series, after all, so it's not like they don't have the creator's approval on everything.
Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Homeland, Game of Thrones, Fringe, Boardwalk Empire, Friday Night Lights, Downton Abbey, The Good Wife, Justified, Sons of Anarchy.

I have never read any of the comics and I feel shame for admitting this. I thought the show was vastly overrated by many of the viewers. It just seemed like a group of people just moping around and arguing about whether or not they need to keep hope alive. But, I have to admit that they stepped things up in the first episode of the 2nd season. Then dropped right back off in the following episodes. By the time the second half of the season aired they made the show a lot more interesting than it had been. I actually began to enjoy some of it, rather than watching it begrudgingly. I'm interested in seeing what happens next, since they said that they were going to keep pace with the second half of season 2.

You know, another comic blog summed it real nice:
The show is NOT good.... most of us just so badly WANT it to be good.
My friends are total fanboys over the show and it drives me nuts. I like the show... but as a TV shows, its badly paced and poorly written. As compared to the comics, its pales in so many ways. Either way you slice it, its ok, not great. Hopefully season 3 will vastly improve.
