Using simple shapes and bright colors, Mahmoud Abdoun cartoons a variety of minimalist figures as well as more layered pieces that fans of Batman, The Legend of Zelda series and Harry Potter will find to their liking. The artist manages to deviate from the sometimes static nature of distilling iconic characters by setting his versions of the Joker, Link and more in just enough motion to subtly bring them to life. His choice to render Princess Zelda with her brown/reddish locks from games like The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening -- it's easy to forget her hair color has changed about as often as Link's.
