Re: the Akira remake,
This really makes me wonder why certain movies are made. If the WB thinks that the production is going to be too expensive to risk, then my question is; Does the script provide a compelling narrative? And with a film like Akira that already took a couple of short cuts compared to the manga, this is an essential aspect.

But then again, maybe not. As evidence I give you Tron:Legacy...

Send the Akira project over to a Asian production company and have them do it. After that have some American actors dub it and release it in America.. bam!, everyone is happy. We'll have a movie that is extremly close to the original and the studio's will be happy because they can tag on the fact that Mr. Popular Actor is doing the voice work. /sigh
Oh well.. one day....

But there already IS a dubbed Akira movie.

I guess they could do like Disney's been doing with the Ghibli stuff and releasing newer dubs with more famous names...
