8bit is refering to the colors. not big pixels. good pics tho.
November 18 2011 at 9:52 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyNo it isn't. NES sprites only had 3 colors. Maybe a few more if you mashed them together (Mega Man was 2x2 and 5-color).
Unless you mean 8-bit color depth, in which case (1) nobody has ever used the phrase "8-bit" to mean that, and (2) this is actually considerably less than 8-bit color depth.
tl;dr Almost all of those are quite clearly based on SNES sprites, not NES ones.
So change the headline ? lol

(Strictly speaking so do Mario and the Doctor, but not by much.)
