Jim Lee's work looks really really good. Too bad it had to destroy DC universe first :)
September 03 2011 at 8:49 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplySee that is the thing here is that JL focuses on the only two of the seven that have there end points not altered subsantially (Hence War of Green Lanterns and Batman Inc are still continuity). That is why Cyborg is not Cyborg-y here...kind of wish they did include Action comics this week so they could explain what supes is doing at the end there (Since those are two that focus on the early parts of this DCnU and I think this is like year two (or Jason Todd year, going by the robin calender))
September 01 2011 at 2:12 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThis seems to adhere to the Michael Keaton/Tim Burton school of Batman thought, where when we get introduced to Batman the very first thing we see is him get laid out by some random inconsequential villain who then escapes.
September 01 2011 at 9:28 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWe've been seeing Batman be freakin awesome for four issues of Flashpoint and three issues of Knight of Vengeance. This is the first time we REALLLY see him get the **** kicked out of him.
And maybe spoiler, but Thawne doesn't, er, get away.
Ummm...wrong Batman. The batman in flashpoint is Thomas Wayne. I am talking about Bruce Wayne.
September 01 2011 at 1:25 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate downi'm confused though........I though Abin-Sur didn't die. Hence Hal wouldn't be GL and sinestro would be. GL Hal shouldn't be there at all if all the junk I'm hearing about this New 52 is true. I'm so confused. I think I'll now stick to Marvel only...unless something truly spectacular comes out from DC......LIKE BRINGING BACK THE ORIGINAL, "DON'T FIX WHAT AIN'T BROKEN", DCU!
September 01 2011 at 9:25 AM Report abuse Permalink -1 rate up rate down ReplyYou missed the whole point of the relaunch. And Abin sur is alive in flashpoint. Not the relaunch. Theyre not "fixing" anything they are improving upon it. Just stick to marvel if your this narrow minded.
September 01 2011 at 9:53 AM Report abuse Permalink -1 rate up rate down ReplyThey aren't improving anything. They are making things worse, not better.
September 01 2011 at 1:25 PM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate downor mb i'll just stick marvel cuz' they ain't screwing around with continuity like DC is. BTW....Hal Jordan still isn't a GL in the relaunch...Sinestro is and Hal is just a fighter pilot.
September 01 2011 at 3:51 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate downDude, if Abin Sur were still alive, then he'd still be GL. Hal succeded Sur, not Sinestro. Sinestro was GL of sector 1417, while Abin Sur (and later Hal) were GL's for sector 2814.
September 01 2011 at 4:01 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replythen yy is Sinestro the GL of the GL comic books?!?! explain that.....now...I'm going back reading FF.
September 01 2011 at 4:03 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate downThis looks as awful as I expected it to.
September 01 2011 at 8:27 AM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down ReplyWelcome to the New 52!, where Batman is a condescending prick, Green Lantern is an egotistical twit, and Superman lashes out first, asks questions later. We dare you to like the all new, all unpleasant Justice League! These aren't your father's DC heroes!!!
Unless your father hit you.
I cannot look at these pages and not laugh. So stupid. There are a ton of old collections out there, luckily.
August 31 2011 at 10:35 PM Report abuse Permalink +2 rate up rate down ReplyYea I got something like 300 unread back issues I got from a $0.10 bin at the Baltimore Comiccon and from a $0.25 bin at a store by me. That should hold me for a bit. At least till The Shade comes out next month.

some times the facepalm moments in comics don't make me laugh
Sooooooo wait a second. These two don't know each other or have any kind of real history, but they still wear suits with matching "armor lines" in them? I could see if maybe the Justice League gets together and Superman says, "Oh, here I have these extra Kryptonian Battle Suits.. anyone want one?" But to have it start that way seems.. odd to me.
August 31 2011 at 9:25 PM Report abuse Permalink +2 rate up rate down Reply? That's like saying omg I don't know you but you wear denim pants too?!
These people I'd imagine get high grade suits, like the military I'd presume, so seeing someone with a suit made with similar high grade materials shouldn't be all that shocking. They wear boots too no? I don't think they need to know each other to have a need for the military grade gear
Shouldn't Green Lantern's suit be made of energy or at least of alien design?
Why would Superman need a military-grade suit?
Etcetera.
Green Lantern's suit isn't exactly an earth made product. it is a construct of his ring. Unless he was thinking "gee, gosh, golly I sure do like the lines of armor on Batman's suit" when he put on his ring and chose the precise design of his GL uniform there isnt any rational in-universe explanation for this similarity.
September 01 2011 at 9:25 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate downI'm with you about the armor lines being similar, but I'm still getting over the fact that the green dude is just floating in the air like that - I mean, he's like 5 feet of the ground with nothing holding him up. Is he standing on the smoke? That's crazy. And what's with the size of the head on that guy Batman is chasing? And his teeth don't look realistic at all.
Seriously, though, I get what you're saying. I think it's OK because that level of design has always been a reflection of the artist, not the world, and realism has always taken a back seat to artist preference. It's those flourishes and consistencies that make up the look of a book, and we love or hate them. One of the obvious choices here was to ignore the evolution of costumes, and assume that everybody already had one. It would have been cool to see some interaction on that front, but most readers, I think, would rather see the characters hitting each other in the face.
Love that García-López cover for FLASHPOINT. Talk about dynamic!
