Official 'The Dark Knight Rises' Teaser Poster Rises

In the words of one of cinema's greatest villains... "I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!" This is a wholly uninspiring (and uninspired poster) hastily put together (are those dirty rain drops falling from the building because it surely doesn't look like rubble"). Not a good start for TDKR with this poster.

I imagine the poster is supposed to evoke that story in our minds to get us excited. But the previous movie, which allegedly was an adaptation of another comic book story arc, really had nothing to do with that arc, and was actually a synthesis of numerous arcs which, in turn, created its own story.
I think that's what we're going to be getting here. A building crumbls, and that's from No Man's Land. A line taken here, a character from Knightfall, etc etc.
Batman: Inception 2.

Measured in degrees of similarity, however, I would have to say that some "Inception" posters bear a much closer resemblance to those from "The Dark Knight", to the point where a couple of them are nearly identical. I do not know who is ultimately responsible for this, but in any medium, repetition of themes and images can be taken as a sign of limited imagination. I just hope it reflects more on choices made by studio promotional hacks than anyone closely involved with the film.

July 12 2011 at 7:25 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyIt is just beautiful! The way the batsignal is all around the sky within the city, great! It's the Beggining of the end, if this movie is half as good as TDK I will be more than satisfied, for all Batman fans this is a great time to live!

If so...
*has to leave the room to change pants*
So the city is crumbling around Batman? Makes sense. The last movie ended with most of the major Gotham mobsters dead or up the river, with Batman on the run from the cops and Joker in Arkham. Naturally leaves a big power vacuum for Bane and Catwoman to fill.
and I can totally see Bane bringing Gotham down around Batman's ears, figuratively speaking.
Okay. So I think this one is a buy.
