Upcoming: Howard Chaykin will write and illustrate the lost story of Nick Fury's early Avengers Initiative starting with October's Avengers: 1959 #1. [Marvel]
Cons: It looks like Marvel is skipping Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con International. Feel free to reschedule the three hours you would've spent waiting in line to get into an Avengers panel as you see fit. Kick back and have a glass of wine or something. Call your mom? The power is yours. [Hero Complex]
TV: SDCC attendees might have a chance to see the unpurchased Locke & Key pilot this summer according to Joe Hill. See, free time can be a good thing. [Twitter]
Toys: Hot Toys is putting its Olympian touch on Captain America: The First Avenger with a 1/6 Cap. Or is this a photo of Chris Evans in costume? You decide! [Marvelousnews]
Gifs: Carl Winslow does Cyclops arguably better than Cyclops does Cyclops. Also, I am incredibly dizzy looking at this thing. [Tumblr]
Anime: Tokyo's Namco Nanja Town indoor theme park created 23 limited edition Fullmetal Alchemist treats in honor of the opening of Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos. Delicious. [ANN]
Fans: Moviefone hits Forbidden Planet and asks fans which of the Big Two films they prefer with some amusing results. [Moviefone]
Scents: Diesel's following up on its Iron Man fragrance with a Cap blend if you're into that kind of thing. [iFanboy]
Cakes: The Cake Boss and crew built a massive Bumblebee in honor of Transformers: Dark of the Moon. It doesn't appear to pee on anyone in this video. [Neatorama]

Stop saying this is agents of atlas! While the AoA are the original avengers of the 50's as established by that what if ages ago, Bendis for some dumb reason chose to pick a new crew, with the exception of namora (who is only there bc she is banging kraven - wtf?). It would have been 100% better if it was just the AoA but not sure hwy they did not go that route. Sabretooth in the 50's does not sound very appealing.
The Avengers 1959 artwork is not very pretty. I hated every time in the New Avengers they had the flashbacks because I knew the artwork wasn't gonna be nice.
Awwww...how many people still like Howard Chaykin's artwork? I can't stand it...his writing is just as bad, the Die Hard mini series he did had awesome potential. I can't help but think, as with Die Hard, that this Avengers project has really cool potential...if only someone else would be at the helm.
