I've been taking a sketchbook to comic book conventions for years -- and I've gotten some truly amazing things -- but when this year's HeroesCon rolled around, I decided to start a new one with a theme. I strongly considered doing an all-pro-wrestler sketchbook, but with the recent death of the Macho man Randy Savage, it didn't seem like the right time. So instead, I settled on Characters Created (or Co-Created) by Jack Kirby! Over the course of the weekend, I managed to pick up ten different pieces by ten incredible artists, and they're awesome.

Darkseid by Ming Doyle

Big Barda by Thom Zahler

Kamandi by Benjamin Birdie

Silver Star by Jeremy Dale

Black Panther by Declan Shalvey

The Thing by Scott Wegener

Orion by Jay Potts

The Demon by Tom Fowler

Mr. Miracle by Gabriel Hardman

And finally, Goody Rickels by Tom Scioli

I should point out here that Scioli was able to draw Goody Rickels, who appeared in exactly two comics, without using reference.

Once again, a huge thanks to all the artists who took the time to draw for me. I just wish that I had more than three days to get pieces from everyone I wanted. And if you've never been to a convention and checked out what the talented folks there have to offer, you definitely should.
