Fifteen years ago Sylvester Stallone and Rob Schneider managed to slightly smudge (and in some cases completely demolish) the general public's perception of "2000 AD's" most famous futuristic judge, jury and executioner. Here in 2010, however, YouTube fan film
Judge Minty pays tribute to the comic works of John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra with a storyline about one of Dredd's more compassionate compatriots with the kind of polish and precision usually reserved for
big-budget videogame commercials.
Here's how the team describes the film at their
official blog:
The film will be based on Judge Minty, a character created by John Wagner and Mick McMahon. An aging Judge who is forced to 'retire' from the streets, mainly it seems because he has become too compassionate. He chooses to take 'The Long Walk' into the Cursed Earth, there "to take law to the lawless". The film will be based around his first experiences in the radioactive wastes.
