While some comics can properly utilize a little decompression to convey their respective intended meanings, there's definitely a time and a place for a faster pace. With that in mind, Wizzywig Comics blogger Ed Piskor has assembled a list of powerful panels that harness both cause and effect in one fell swoop.


Piskor's selections include a number of iconic works such as Charles Schulz's "Peanuts," Herge's "Tintin," Katsuhiro Otomo's "Akira," Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns," Will Eisner's "Building Stories," and Dave Gibbons' art on "Watchmen."

It goes without saying that depicting cause and effect in a single panel isn't appropriate for every occasion, but the practice is definitely worth a closer look - especially when executed by masters of the medium.
