Spending most of my childhood and adult life in landlocked Kansas, I confess to never having visited the Great White North that is Canada. It's not that I don't want to, it's just my summers are usually chock full of travel and winters...well, I've heard less than awesome things about Canadian winters. Now that I've beheld the glory that is Captain Newfoundland, however, I'm struck with uncontrollable passport-obtaining urges.
I don't know much about CN aside from what his trippy, disco-infused '70s NTV-created intro tells me. Newfoundland is what's left of Atlantis and he's the lone survivor (from the stars), watching over the island with a power set similar to Doctor Strange meets Doctor Who's "The Doctor" meets Marvel's Celestials meet the Spectre.
Yeah, I know!
Dude is a bad mofo and apparently has ties to Captain Canada (who I must admit I know even less about).
Tell you what, this is all so eye-opening to me that I'm going to spend a few days reading up on this ish and trying to track down some comics. I'll get back to you.
For now, consider me a fan. And every fan of Captain Newfoundland knows the Captain's code: This above all: To thine own self be true!

I have never wanted anything the way I want Captain Newfoundland to be real right now.

Holy crap, I just hit the site as part of my daily rounds, and almost lost my mind seeing this. I'm from Newfoundland, and I gotta say, it's extremely unsettling to see the outside world get wind of this. It's like having our special club exposed. :P
Really, though, it's almost as much a mystery to me. I believe Captain Newfoundland was created by the same guy who made Captain Canada, that would be local kook and businessman, Geoff Stirling. Stirling owns a number of media outlets, including the local television station, NTV, which sometimes airs bizarre videos of "Captain Canada" during commercial breaks in the late night hours. The biggest appearances I've ever seen of Captain Newfoundland were in the local television guide, the Newfoundland Herald (Also owned by Stirling), which would include a comic strip about Captain Canada and all the rest every week (I seem to recall a lot of people with wings...I never quite understood what was going on).
....I feel obliged to include a disclaimer stating that Geoff Stirling and Captain Newfoundland do not represent Newfoundlanders as a people... :P

Big fan of Canada here. I've even gone on Canadian winter vacations, sort of. I am from Minnesooota though.
Is Captain Newfoundland powered by Aurora Borealis in the mighty psychedelic Ditko fashion? I sure hope so!

as a kid in Newfoundland without cable I had extensive expirience with the truly bizarre that was/is what NTV played in commercial spots, which along with Captain Canada and apparently Captain Newfoundland I recall including poor computer graphics, public domain cartoon spots and once the theme from Chariots of Fire. I'm really quite frightened to see NTV's particular brand of wierdness has spread beyond the island. I had been hoping to repress those childhood memeories

Was that part of "This Island Earth" from the MST3K movie at the end?

Oh man, I'm also from Newfoundland and have horribly strange and weird memories of late night NTV. The pinnacle being a looped 30 second clip of a seagull flying through a tie dye burned out nightmare from hell while Geoff Stirling recited the Rime of the Ancient Mariner.
