Comics can teach you about a lot of things, like history, philosophy, and literature -- and now in many free clinics across Japan, sex! Rather than clinical diagrams or horrifying photographs of STDs, an educational booklet called "Have a Nice Sex" (really) uses cartoons to instruct people about the, uh, ins and outs of safe sex and HIV. I also realized just this moment why the images seemed so out of place to me in the realm of sex ed -- they involve people looking happy, and make sex seem like a fun thing to do. Crazy, right?
