I think that middle symbol is pointing out that the U.S. was the first to land on the moon.

Those shapes look an awful lot like North and South America on the left, and Europe and Africa on the right (with Iceland and Greenland as islands to boot.)
At that size it's practically a Rorschach though, I guess.
