Batman, blood-sucking mutants (no vampires mentioned in I Am Legend) and the first look at the Joker... YOWSA! Even makes that abomination of a JLA movie -- read this short news item from the awesome Dark Horizons -- sound slightly more tolerable...

Ahh, Ijust love working at the theatres. Employee screenings are the best. The rumors are very true, and the prologue is very bad@$$!!!

Burton's movies never quite captured the dark, borderline psychotic side of Bruce Wayne that made him Batman. The tone and seriousness of BB (with appropriate touches of humor) was perfect for an oncscreen rendering of this classic comic.
Christian Bale was brilliant. Along with all the other actors- particularly Cillian Murphy. I'm glad Gary Oldman is back as Gordon too. I think the Dark Knight is going to rock, and I am not worried about Heath Ledger as Joker.
Actually that just makes it more intriguing, because he is not the obvious choice for the role- but when you really think about it (and breeze through some of his previous movies)he has all the skills to turn out a deliciously disturbing performance.
I saw the preview footage they showed at Wizard World in Chicago over the summer and it was fantastic. The clips they showed of Heath Ledger looked incredible. Yeah, he doesn't look quite like what I would pick for the Joker, but his acting in what I saw certainly made up for it. Also, he said that they gave him "The Killing Joke" to prepare for the part, so that should give you some idea of where they want him to be in preparation for the role.

About the two comments here about more girls reading comic books nowadays: Ive read about that news of more of them reading the comics. That is interesting, but I wonder if that also means there will be more female artists or writers in the comic books. It sounds like the business needs that, if there arent enough women working there. If there are good female artists/writers who want to work in the comics, then maybe they should get those jobs.
Will 'The Dark Knight have anything to do w/ Frank Millers The Dark Knight Returns?
Heath as the Joker....I don't know.
I'm not going to crash in on him just yet, but he has some pretty big shoes to fill, if there's to be any comparison to the first Joker.

I knew something was coming out in December, I just didn't know what. I have been keeping an eye on the viral site whysoserious.com and it said something about seeing you in December. As for the movie itself, it totally renewed my love for the franchise. I must admit I was at first a little skeptical about Ledger playing the Joker, one of the Dark Knights most notable enemies, but from what I have seen in pictures and heard in the teaser, sounds and looks good. He does have that tell-tale extra-large grin that would be perfect for the role. And LasCamisas, I am with you. My cousins look at me funny for being a girl who loves comics and cars and other things they deem boyish. I like what I like. I've also been rewatching the original "Batman: The Animated Series" on Toon Disney just to get a quick fix on nostalgia.

Also I think anyone who says anything about doubting Heath Ledger as the Joker is an idiot because they wouldn't have casted him if it wasn't gonna be perfect for the movie. The only thing I'm worried about is if Cillian Murphy will return as the Scarecrow because he's my favorite actor of all time and his Scarecrow has to go down as one of the best most sadistic evil villain performances ever and in the end of the first on they said he escaped so we know he's still alive. Does anyone know what the deal is with that?
